Visits to courthouses, jails, prisons and detention centers are based on an hourly rate and are subject to additional, unique fees depending on the location. Fees range from $50.00 to $125.00 per hour. All notarizations, travel and print fees are included in the hourly cost - you are simply paying for my time. Visits to places such as these can be prolonged due to security measures, inmate/detainee status and technical issues that need to be coordinated before the appointment - especially with regard to locating proper identification. In general, a visit can be completed in about an hour.
Each situation is unique, so please contact me for an exact quote. Finally, I do not provide service to every facility. Please refer to the notes below for more information on specific locations.
Michael D. Antonovich Antelope Valley Courthouse (Lancaster) Many inmates who are housed in various county jail facilities around Los Angeles County have court visits in Lancaster at the courthouse. Sometimes, it's much easier to get access at the courthouse than at the county jails. This is especially true for the downtown Los Angeles facilities. If the inmate has an upcoming court date, I will try to work with the inmate's attorney, the Sheriff or even the Judge to arrange to have a notarization completed. Trips to the courthouse are $50.00 per hour.
Mira Loma Detention Center (Starting at $85.00 per hour for weekdays, $125.00 per hour on weekends) I provide Notary services at Mira Loma Detention Center on a regular basis. Because the individuals detained at that location have immigration issues, proper identification may be an obstacle. Please make sure to have the individual's Booking Number, Alien Number and the name and phone number of the detainee's ICE Officer, if possible. Also, please let me know if this person has a valid ID. If not (which is common for individuals at Mira Loma), we may be able to use two credible witnesses. Sometimes, the individual's ID is in "jail property" and should be requested prior to my visit.
In some cases, the detainnee may have a valid passport...but that will likely be with his ICE Officer. If this is the case, the detainee's attorney should contact me to make a request for the passport. This may require several days notice and can only be done on a weekday.
If it helps, feel free to download and print the following worksheet to help coordinate information for a visit to Mira Loma:

Most visits to Mira Loma (during the week) take approximately an hour. Weekend visits tend to take about 2 hours, possibly longer if credible witnesses are needed. All notarizations, travel and print fees are included in the hourly cost.
California City Correctional Center This is a private prison, operated by the Corrections Corporation of America, and they have a notary on staff. There are signs posted throughout the facility with the information for that notary. Please have the inmate contact that notary for assistance.
Twin Towers Correctional Facility or Mens Central (Downtown LA), Central Regional Detention Facility (Lynwood) If you need service to the county facilities listed above, please contact LaShon James-Major at 562-314-4319. She will take good care of you and is very familiar with the procedures at these facilities. Men's Central, for example, will only allow certain documents to be notarized. LaShon will help you with that.
California State Prison, Los Angeles County (LAC) The state prison, which is located in Lancaster right next door to Mira Loma, has a notary on staff and the inmate should be able to arrange for a notarization through the Litigation Office. However, an outside notary might be brought in with permission of the Litigation Coordinator.
